Q. What constitutes as a £30+ page?
A. More than 50 words and two images. Remember your template page will already have been set up so the images in this design are not counted!
Q. Why £50 for a set-up fee?
A. Establishing a template for a website can be time consuming so this fee has been put in place to cover this eventuality.
Q. Where do I get web space from, why not from you?
A. If we had our own server space it is likely we could not offer these great prices to you. We advise you using oneandone for your domain space but the decision is yours.
Q. What is search engine optimisation?
A. The basics are simply making sure your website is hit without people knowing you exists! There are many methods of doing this; some easy, some more technical but mainly labor intensive and therefore an important task some web designers don't carry out (or don't know about!). The WWW is a huge community and you need to be on the first page when people are searching for services or products related to yours.
Q. What are keywords and meta tags?
A. Part of a search engine optimization procedure. Each webpage has its own meta tags. These vary from the title of your page to keywords mentioned in the content. Each webpage must have keywords resembling the content. Words in bold on a page will most certainly be keywords in the meta tags for example. Search engines read these keywords and match them up with the content of the webpage.
Q. What does W3C mean?
A. The World Wide Web Consortium is a large community of people who are mainly showing a justifiable concern for the ever growing number of inaccessible websites.
Q. What are dynamic pages?
A. Static HTML is arguably on its way out and PHP, ASP or Dynamic HTML is certainly the way forward. The web is a living thing and is changing every day. Dynamic web pages communicate with servers to allow databases for ecommerce, guest books, forums and also other features such as live data (dates, clocks, currency exchange rates etc...).
